A Note From Your Trustees

November 2011

Association members:

As fiscal year 2011 draws to an end, there are some things that are unfinished business.  At the annual membership meeting, October 10th election of trustees was conducted.  Ken Scheef and Chuck Hamsmith were re-elected.  The only nominations from the floor were Ron Oltman and Carol Madsen.  Ron Oltman was elected for a three year term as trustee.  LeeAnn Backstrom, a long time member of the board and past president had resigned her position.

There was a very poor showing of members at the meeting.  Out of 887 living members, nineteen members were present with seven of those being the board of trustees.  We need a better showing at the annual meetings to get a clear perspective of the feelings of the membership.  Please plan on attending the next annual meeting in October, 2012.  The place and time are printed in the Photo Press and the Sentinel for a week prior to the meeting.

Winter is closing in and we have all the equipment ready for use.  I hope, the winter, is milder than the last two.  The front gate will be closed and only a minimum of roads opened after December 20th.  If you have decorations to be placed on the graves of family and loved ones, you can contact Chuck Hamsmith at 236-5049 and I will see that they are placed if you cannot get to the graves.  The roads are usually snow packed and icy, making them impassable.  To avoid accidents and people stranded it is necessary to take these measures.  Please keep in mind that even in the winter months the cemetery needs operating capital and donations are tax deductable and very much necessary to keep the cemetery in operation.

That’s all for now from the information desk,

Chuck Hamsmith - Manager
Board of Trustees
